Standard First Aid - CPR Level HCP (Health Care Provider)

This course is for individuals who are working or plan to work in the Health Care field and require the Health Care Provider level of CPR. The course includes all CPR skills plus advanced skills such as artificial respiration and the use of bag valve masks and AEDs. The provincially recognized certificate which meets WSIB and Canadian Labour Code certification, valid for three years, is issued upon successful completion. A renewal course is available. The renewal course is designed to review knowledge and skills learned in the full course.

CPR Level HCP (Health Care Provider)

CPR for Health Care Providers (HCP) is specifically designed for the current and future Nursing, Health and Emergency Care Service Providers. Topics covered include cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies, adult, child and infant CPR skills, two-rescuer CPR, automated external defibrillation (AED), use of the bag valve mask, rescue breathing and jaw thrust, anatomy and physiology and infection control. Each student will receive a St. John Ambulance First Aid Reference Guide with over 400 pages of information, full colour illustrations, charts, glossary, and more. This course is a recognized prerequisite for post-secondary health and emergency service training programs. Provincially recognized certificates are issued upon completion. Annual retraining in CPR is recommended.

CPR Level HCP (Health Care Provider) - (Renewal)

This renewal course is designed to review knowledge and skills learned in the full course (highlighted above).

Marine Advanced First Aid HCP (Health Care Provider)

This program meets the Transport Canada Marine Safety requirements for Examination and Certification of Seafarers and includes all the Basic Course components plus advanced First Aid procedures to assist with the treatment of the most common off-shore medical conditions and emergencies. Students will also learn all levels of CPR, the use of an AED, moving and transporting casualties, airway management, and knowledge in topics including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and communications. Electives have been pre-selected by Transport Canada to meet federal regulations.
