Home Caregiver Courses
The overall goal of the Home Caregiver Support Program is to provide information and assistance to nonprofessional caregivers who are providing care for family members or friends suffering from chronic or terminal illnesses within the confines of their own home.
Instructor Development
To help maintain our high national standards, our instructors complete a comprehensive curriculum including instructional techniques and specific content related orientation. Candidates are monitored in the classroom before being qualified to instruct unassisted.
Our commitment to quality in the teaching environment means our Instructors regularly participate in workshops and programs designed to maintain current skills and build new areas of expertise. All St John Ambulance Instructors have fulfilled national screening requirements.
Emergency & First Aid Courses

Babysitting Course
This award-winning course is designed for students aged 11-15 and teaches new babysitters the skills necessary to care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. It emphasizes safety, dealing with emergencies and first aid basics.
Mental Health First Aid Courses
Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is provided until appropriate support is found or until the crisis is resolved.
Home Alone Course
This course is designed for the 9 and 10-year-old group, to help prepare them to deal with unforeseen emergencies and staying safe in times where they may find themselves alone for short periods of time.
Pet First Aid Courses
Did you know that first aid skills and knowledge specific to cats and dogs exist and can save your pet’s life in case of illness or injury? The St. John Ambulance pet first aid course provides the knowledge and skills needed to respond safely and efficiently if your pet gets sick or injured – you can save your pet’s life. You will learn and practice resuscitation techniques like CPR and choking, and also learn how to prevent your pet from becoming seriously sick or injured by pet proofing your home.
